Lunchtime at Charingfield

The homestyle dining rooms in Charingfield’s five smaller households come to life at mealtimes when residents gather to share food with their neighbours.

A regular table of four in Edmund Household comprises residents Murray, Brother Carl, Brother Vince and Duncan, who find this catch up to be a pleasantly social part of their daily routine.

“Getting together to enjoy lunch each day is a treasured time” says Murray. “I look forward to the conversation as much as the food!”

Brother Carl agrees. “Over lunch, we talk about all manner of things, like current events, the comings and goings at Charingfield, and the progress of the exciting renovations to our community. We share news of our families, and I update my friends on the outings I have with my niece around Sydney,” he says.

“Our table is a lot of fun,” says Brother Vince. “There’s always chatter, stories and laughs as we share the lovely food Chef Kevin cooks.”

Duncan enjoys welcoming his son to join the table sometimes. “It’s lovely to invite family to share a meal, just like at home. Our favourite dishes are the ones with seafood. The taste, quality and presentation are excellent,” he said.
