Meet compassionate Care Manager, Tara

Tara is an experienced Nurse and has found a strong sense of purpose and fulfilment in caring for the elderly. As Charingfield’s Care Manager, she is responsible for delivering person-first care, supporting with their ongoing care needs.

“I feel privileged to be able to support residents and contribute to their comfort, dignity and wellbeing,” she says. “I’m committed to building genuine relationships with residents, understanding their individual needs and helping them feel safe, respected and cared for. Sometimes, simply being present and showing kindness can make a meaningful difference.”

What is the favourite part of your day?

When I’m connecting with the individuals who call Charingfield home. I love hearing their life stories. It’s inspiring to hear about their experiences, achievements, families, careers and the different journeys that have shaped who they are. I also especially enjoy the little moments that mean so much, like spending time out in the garden with the residents who live in our Memory Support Household. It’s so lovely when we pick flowers or smell the fragrant herbs together.

What do you see as the impact of your role?

Working in aged care has shown me how important it is to truly see the person behind their care needs. I focus on providing care that supports not only their health, but also their comfort, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

A big part of my role is ensuring residents receive safe, timely and well-coordinated care and making sure any changing needs are identified early. It’s about residents feeling heard and being treated with dignity, compassion and respect.

How does technology help you deliver better care?

At Charingfield, we use CareKeeper, Australia’s most advanced handheld care technology. This holds all the updated information about each resident’s care needs, and I have it right in the palm of my hand. In aged care, every detail matters – a resident’s preferences, needs, risks, changes and daily routines. CareKeeper ensures residents receive care that reflects their individual needs, and it also provides us with anything else we need to know about a resident – their story, their lifestyle preferences and how they like to spend their day.

I’m able to run see everything at a glance and in real time. This means I can spend more time with residents, and less time doing paperwork at a Nurse’s station.

At Charingfield, residents are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on getting to know and understand individual residents, and supporting them to maintain their interests, routines and connections to the people and places they love. We use innovation to help us deliver personalised, meaningful care.
